Applications are now available for the 2013-2014 James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarships. Children and grandchildren of active and retired Teamsters who are in their last year of high school and rank in the top 15 percent of their high school class are eligible.
Among the 150 students awarded scholarships of $1,000 or more for 2012-2013, seven are the sons and daughters of Teamsters Joint Council 25 affiliated members. This year’s local recipients included Joshua Beliveau of Teamsters Local 700, Jordan Fox of Teamsters Local 525, Kelly Micholson of Teamsters Local 743, Sean Miller of Teamsters Local 142, Eric Millichamp of Teamsters Local 371 and siblings Kyle and Aron Perfect of Teamsters Local 727.
“Once again, I am proud to see our members’ families taking advantage of the great things the Teamsters Union has to offer,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “I strongly encourage those who are eligible to apply for Hoffa Memorial Scholarships. It is a wonderful opportunity to further your education.”
Completed applications must be returned to respective Teamster locals for membership verification. All local union will forward final applications to the scholarship fund office. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2013.
The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 1999 to honor the memory of former Teamsters General President James R. Hoffa and to increase the availability of educational funding for Teamster family members. The fund awards scholarships to hundreds of students each year through the annual award process and the essay contest.
