Teamsters manufacturing industrial laundry machines cleaned up this winter with the ratification of a five-year contract in December.
More than 120 workers represented by Teamsters Local 743 secured the new agreement with Chicago Dryer, a global company specializing in commercial laundry systems for major corporations, hotels and health care centers. The contract includes guaranteed wage increases for all five years and improved profit-sharing opportunities for members.
“Chicago Dryer is a company Local 743 has been proud to represent for many years and its workforce is second-to-none,” said Donnie Von Moore, President of Local 743. “Thanks to their Teamster contract, workers can take comfort in knowing they’ll have the protected resources and benefits they need to care for their families for years to come.”
The majority of Local 743 members working at Chicago Dryer are immigrant and Polish-speaking workers. The membership overwhelmingly ratified the agreement, which also includes affordable health and welfare benefits with Humana.
Chicago Dryer, located on Pulaski Rd. on the city’s West Side, was founded more than 100 years ago. Laundry machines manufactured by Teamsters can automatically separate, clean, dry, iron and fold an entire range of modern, commercial linen.
Teamsters Local 743 represents more than 11,000 hardworking men and women in health care, warehouse, clerical, mail-order and professional industries throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.
